What dental software actually costs
Every price on this page came off the vendor’s own website, with a link so you can check it. Where a vendor publishes nothing, we say nothing — we don’t recycle third-party estimates, because in this category a lot of them are wrong.

The 9 that won’t tell you
These publish no figure anywhere on their sites. That is a legitimate commercial choice — enterprise pricing genuinely does vary — but it means you cannot shortlist on budget without booking sales calls first.

The sticker price is not the bill
The cheap end of this market is cheap because it unbundles. Texting, online booking, digital forms and eligibility checks are all separately priced. A worked example, using only each vendor’s own published add-on rates:

Nearly 3.7× the $129 headline, and now more expensive than several “expensive” all-in-one clouds.
This is the trap in the category. A $129 on-premise product and an $829 all-in-one cloud are not 6× apart once you switch on the things a modern practice needs — and the cloud price includes the server you would otherwise buy, run and back up.
One-off costs people forget
- Data conversion. Practice-Web publishes $1,195. Others quote per source system; budget four figures.
- Server hardware, for any on-premise option — plus its replacement cycle.
- Training time. Practice-Web publishes $75/hour for extra training. Everyone charges for it somehow.
- Transaction fees. tab32 publishes $0.20/claim, $0.50/attachment, $1.25/eligibility check. On 400 claims a month that is real money.
- Per-provider uplifts. Open Dental and Practice-Web both add $20/month per dentist beyond three; Oryx adds $100–200 per provider beyond two.
